Get Connected

Looking to get connected? There is a place for every person to belong. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at New Hope United Methodist Church:

Sunday School

Every Sunday, conveniently placed in between our two worship times of 9 and 11, there is Sunday School at 10 am for people of all ages.  From toddlers to teens and classes for adults all of God’s children can find a place to grow in knowledge and community.  On the fifth Sunday months we connect our Contemporary and Traditional worshippers with a 10:00am breakfast sponsored by one of our Connection Groups.  All are welcome to join us for this wonderful fellowship and good food time!

Bible Study Small Group

Every Wednesday Night at 7 pm New Hope has Desserts and Discussions Bible Study. While enjoying a sweet treat, we take time to reflect on the scripture used in worship the Sunday before. Come as you are and bring your Bible.

Children’s Programs & Events

Abby sings during Traditional worship.

New Hope hosts a Pre-school Co-op and Playgroup.  Pastor Katie presents a Children’s Sermon each Sunday at both services and children are then invited to stay in worship with their parents or attend the Nursery or Children’s Church (depending on age) with a volunteer or paid caregiver.  New Hope offers several children oriented activities through the year including the Easter Egg Hunt, Harvest Festival, Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, Baby-sitting opportunities for the parents, etc.  There is a place for your little one at New Hope!

ROCK Youth Ministry

The ROCK Youth Ministry connects youth in our congregation to God and one another.  From mission trips to fellowship to study to lock-ins, New Hope has an active youth ministry. Visit the youth page for details about upcoming events.

Young Adults

The young adult group of New Hope provides a welcoming atmosphere for young adults 18-35ish through a Sunday School class and an every other month meeting on the second Friday for a “connection” event.  Email Andy Alger at for more information.

Sewing Group

The sewing group meets Tuesday and Thursday nights during the fall season to make clothing for the children of Haiti. The shorts, dresses and blankets were taken to Haiti by the January 2012 Mission Team, and some of them sent to Sarah’s Covenant Homes in India.  Email Patty Ansel at for more information.

Women’s Groups

The Joyful United Methodist Women of New Hope meets monthly for study, fellowship and service.  For details on the next meeting, contact Barbara Shew.

Wednesday mornings at 10am there is also Women’s Prayer Group that meets to share prayer concerns and pray with each other.  Contact Pastor Noni Sigler at for more information

A Women’s Fellowship connects once a month to enjoy a meal, have a party, or do some crafts.  It’s just a time of getting to know one another and grow in our relationships.  Every woman of every age is invited.  Contact the church office for more information at 301-834-7320.

Men’s Groups

Currently, the men are involved in a Friday night Softball League in Frederick.  Check in with Rich Wilson or Danny Renn to get on board! The team is always happy to have some cheerleaders too…so come on out for a Friday evening wind down.  You can find the schedule here and the team’s website here
